Love, That's an Understatement, Volume 1 by Fujimomo
emotional
4.5
(Bato.to) Risa helps a delinquent boy (Zen) after he is beat up. He keeps showing up to return the favor. He helps her after the same boys from before bother her and gets her to her exam on time. They end up trading favors and helping each other out. She finds out Zen cares for his friends and rescues cats (and people) --so not a bad guy like she thought and he learns that her coldness is a defense mechanism. Zen is inspired to study and Risa starts to learn to rely on another person. Risa agrees to go out with Zen if he makes a 50 on his exams --she helps him (and his friends) study. Zen takes care of Risa when she is sick and they confess to each other. Officially dating but will Risa neglect her studies? At the festival Zen becomes jealous of Risa's teacher. Sensei warns Risa about focusing on her studies. Zen tells Risa he'll be working a lot so he won't be able to see her for a while --to give her a chance to study. She misses him and goes to see him at his job and realize they miss each other. Manga is on hiatus --so probably won't be finished. Really liked it though --lots of flirting and kissing.
