The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald

“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”

This book was so much shorter than I originally expected it to be!

Though I did have trouble piecing the events together, it was actually a pretty easy book to follow, which I don't really find with classics.

The author really incorporated elements of the '20s and each character's personalities really well, and I think that every detail was very much well thought out.

One thing that wasn't super great was there were some parts where I feel weren't very clarified. You don't really realize something happened until a character actually says it or thinks it. I had to go back and re-read paragraphs several times so I could understand why certain events were happening.

I thought that this book would be about the typical very descriptive classic novel about daily life, and I was so wrong. The end was such a plot twist, and it totally surprised me. I didn't realize the change until the bigger events began to happen.

Super short and sweet review, but I would totally recommend this book. There are so many levels of understanding you can reach in this book, and even though it's pretty short, makes you think a lot. 5 stars, (or 4.9, I guess).
