A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole
5.0
HOW DID NO ONE TELL ME HOW SAD THIS BOOK IS?????
I don’t typically cry at books. I can count on one hand how many books have made me cry, but this is definitely one of them. If you’re looking for a book to emotionally wreck you, this is most definitely the one.
Before Poppy’s grandmother passes away, she gives her the adventure of a lifetime: to collect a thousand kisses from boys who make her heart almost burst (in a good way). But before Poppy can set off on her adventure, her best friend of three years, Rune, steps up and declares that he wants to be the one to help her on this adventure – no one else.
Rune and Poppy are inseparable and their friendship is contagious. I love them both. But life can never be that simple or that happy all the time, can it? Soon, Rune discovers that he’s being separated from Poppy and there’s nothing he can do about it. But they promise to keep in touch and wait for one another – until Poppy doesn’t.
Rune returns years later an angry teenage boy, confused as to why the love of his young life had cut him off with no warning. But when he discovers the truth, it’s worse than anything he could have ever imagined. And soon, the one thousand kisses seem nearly impossible to accomplish.
This book will make your heart soar, swoon, and break. I listened to the audiobook and they did a phenomenal job bringing Tillie Cole’s characters to life. I already know I want to reread this one.
