This started out really strong for me. There’s some really good stuff about Jesus right at the beginning, things that made me reconsider certain biblical passages in ways I had never before done (and as a person who thinks about the bible embarrassingly often, I think that’s really high praise!). Unfortunately my excitement fizzled out once the focus shifted to Judas and Lucifer. Oh, their respective tragedies broke my heart, don’t be mistaken. I want to hug Judas and never let go. I just felt like I had read it all before, nothing was new or fresh. The writing was really good at times, but at others it leaned too heavily on cliches. For a premise so provocative and intriguing, this fell surprisingly flat for me. And I’m sad! Because I love my gays and my bible and this was right up my alley! Alas, it wasn’t meant to be.
