Paid for: My Journey Through Prostitution by Rachel Moran

dark emotional informative medium-paced

4.5

Given the popularity and more recent sensationalism of sex work (in its many forms), Paid For is an incredibly bleak but highly informative perspective on the realities of sex work and core arguments against the notion of legalized sex work. This provides an incredibly interesting juxtaposition against many other popular narratives that prompts many reflections on our views of the industry and logical fallacies about sex work, specifically as it relates to poverty and class. This personally has changed my views on the industry and piques my curiosity to learn more as at times the author is a bit heavy handed (although justifiably so). Parts did begin to feel repetitive, especially towards the end, but regardless an important read.
