Olive Kitteridge by Elizabeth Strout

4.0

This is a surprisingly good book considering the plot is a series of stories about people who are either intimately or loosely connected to the character, Olive Kitteridge.

This is the kind of novel I think many authors hope to write, but can't seem to pull off. It deserves the Pulitzer for its simple beauty, frank prose, and delicate insight into human nature. I love Olive, but I learned to love her first (and primarily) through the eyes and experiences of others.

It's just a beautiful book about life and how we connect, or fail to connect, with others and ourselves.
