‘Tis the Damn Season by Kimi Freeman

⭐️⭐️⭐️ (3/5)

Genre: Holiday Romance

About 320 pages

Aspen Moore, a Hollywood star, is headed back to her hometown in PA after a scandal involving her BFF and BFF’s boyfriend. She needs a break from the chaos and some time with her family. The only thing in the way of the peace she seeks is Roman. Aspen and Roman dated in high school and their current relationship is complicated, to say the least. They’ve tried being just friends but can’t help the sparks that fly every time they’re together…. Keeping her feelings in check is hard enough, but add directing a holiday play together, Roman supporting her through several scandals, and the nostalgic hometown feelings… Aspen has her work cut out for her.

If a book is promoted with Taylor Swift references, you bet I will be reading it! While it didn’t blow me away, Tis the Damn Season was a cute, holiday romance! If you are a fan of tropes, this book is full of them. Off the top of my head, I recall instant love, friends to lovers, forbidden(ish) lovers, and second-chance romance. I am not huge into tropes, so I found that many a bit overwhelming… But one thing I did love was how Freeman associated a song with each chapter and they all aligned very well with the contents of their respective chapters!

Favorite Quote: “They say you’ll never find forever the first time, but I don’t believe that’s true. I found it the first time. And I keep finding it, over and over again.”
