I Moved to Los Angeles to Work in Animation by Natalie Nourigat

3.0

An interesting a short autobiography of the author’s experience as a storyboarder in LA, while it’s very charming and relatively easy to read, portions of this book have since become irrelevant or poorly aged.
It’s not the fault of the author, really- the industry goes through overhauls (tech changes, huge studio mergers, etc) every few years, but with the recent issues of tax layoffs, price hikes, AI ‘art’, and mass firings have made a good chunk of this book’s advice less impactful.

I do think it’s a fascinating read, but if you’re an artist who’s already eyeing going pro, much of the advice in the book may already be familiar to you. This reads better as an autobiography than anything else.
