Return to Blood by Michael Bennett

5.0

Return to Blood, Bennett’s second Hana Westerman book, is quite different from the first book which was a dark and sometime graphic look at the hunt for a serial killer. But it is just as good if not better, because in Return to Blood we get a much deeper look into the characters and the Māori life and culture. Hana has left the police force after the trauma that nearly ended her life in book one and has returned to her hometown to live with her father. While visiting her mother, Hana’s daughter Addison finds the bones of a young women who went missing 4 years earlier. What follows is a police procedural at its best with a story that will tug at your heartstrings, characters that you will want to meet again, and an ending that you will never predict.
