Wow, I just love Elsie Silver’s books so much. I previously read this (it was my first ever Elsie Silver book!) and I absolutely adored it. I went on to read her Chestnut Springs and Gold Rush Ranch series and enjoyed every single one. Now, I listened to Wild Love as a reread, right before diving into Wild Eyes, which is the next book in the Rose Hill series and was just released in early September.
Wild Love is a great small town romance with witty banter, spicy scenes, and a childhood frenemies-to-lovers romance. Elsie Silver writes the best characters. I love Ford and his awkwardness and the secret torch he carried for Rosalie for years. I love Rosalie’s spunk and capability. Elsie’s female characters are always such strong women and I love it. I forgot how much I enjoyed Ford and Rosalie’s emails back and forth to each other. I actually forgot a lot of little details so I’m really glad I listened to this before diving into Wild Eyes.
Overall, this is a great listen or a great read (or both!). Zachary Webber is not my favorite male narrator but he’s pretty good in this one. I enjoyed Vanessa Edwin’s performance here as well. I prefer to do any rereads by listening to the audiobook version. It’s a great way to catch up on a series before the next book comes out.
