The Scandal of Rose: A Gilded Age Novella by Joanna Shupe

3.0

The problem with Joanna Shupe writing two of my all time favorite historical romance erotic novellas is that she's set the bar impossibly high for herself. Shupe is so talented at taking things I normally find really hard to enjoy--massive age gaps, billionaires, mistress plots--and somehow making them not only appealing but exceptionally hot. That happened here too (this book literally starts mid bang in the most graphic way possible and the MCs are a playboy billionaire and his half-his-age love interest) but it written in first person POV. This is a tense that is really hard for me in any genre, but especially historical romance, but your mileage may vary! Overall more of a 3.5 star situation.
