This is a great series.
Lila is coming into her power and Kell is suffocating under his. They both look to do something about it by entering the Essen Tasch, the contest for magicians.
Meanwhile, poor Holland (I’m a Holland stan what of it?) is just wanting to restore order to his world. He makes another shit bargain with someone. At least this time by choice. And for a while it had been a good deal. That is of course until it wasn’t.
The king and queen are being terrible to Kell and Rhy is not helping matters. I thought about how Lila had chastised Kell when he said that he felt like a possession. Meanwhile he had been right because they had been very willing to put him aside. So like, what’s worst Lila? To feel like no one had ever chosen you, or to feel like them choosing you had nothing to do with who you are but what you could offer them. The ending was one hell of a cliffhanger. Good thing I had the next book ready to go. I can’t imagine people waiting for it to publish. Poor souls.
I’m ready for Hollands redemption arc please and thank you. If I don’t get it I’ll revolt.
