I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

5.0

Ouch.

It's always difficult to judge a biography but I admire what Jennette McCurdy has accomplished. Her total transparency, her desire to tell her truth, her story, without trying to hide or attenuate the abuses she has suffered. This is one of the hardest reads I have had to read, but one of the most impactful and important too.

I never watched series with Jennette McCurdy so I knew absolutely nothing about her and her universe. But her story has powerful repercussions in the industry: as a very young actress, she experienced what surely many young girls have been experiencing in silence for years. The abuses and silent complicity of an industry that is well aware of the horrors it engenders. I will highly recommend this book to absolutely everyone, whether you know his career or not, because his story deserves to be known. I have no doubt that it will have an impact in the future.

One of the most important reads of 2022.
