Never Lie by Freida McFadden

3.0

I honestly thought I was going to like it, hell I thought I'd love it as much as the other two books I've read so far. But to my disappointment there were certain parts of the story that I didn't quite like —

|| SPOILER AHEAD ||

1. The villain becomes the protagonist/the protagonist turns out to be the villain. Not even morally grey, she is SICK .AND. EVIL! And she gets to have a happy ending whereas someone as nice as Luke Strauss gets murdered at the end.

2. It was at the same time exciting as well as disappointing to initially feel that I've got it all figured, the revelation won't come as a shock. But then comes the Freida McFadden twist, which was a nice "wtf" moment for me, but it kind of didn't sync well with the earlier plot.

3. Turning EJ not to be Ethan seemed so forced.

4. Wasn't that well written, nor was the plot well developed. So, that's there.

5. It felt a bit too slow paced for a Freida McFadden novel. I mean she's my favourite nevertheless, and I did have high expectations from this one.

|| END OF SPOILER ||

* Nevertheless, these are just my opinion. Some of the things didn't turn out as I had anticipated from her. But, if you talk about the thrill, the drama, the suspense, the ambience and the twist, of course it was enjoyable on that. So, you don't need to feel disappointed if it's already on your tbr. Read it and judge for yourself. Maybe you'll end up loving it, who knows!
