The Magician King by Lev Grossman

2.0

I liked the the first book in this series. Many of my likes and dislikes of that book carry though to this one.

In this book, my imagination has been polluted by the TV Show. (I'm seeing and hearing the actors in my reading.) However, the author's prose does provoke LOLs not found on TV. Also, the show's writers borrowed elements from the first and second books for their first season. This is a spoiler for the Julia POV used in this second book.

Frankly, I like the Earth urban fantasy, parts of the story more than the Fillory fantasy parts. Swashbuckling, spell-casting Millennial hipsters really need an urban environment.

I'm continuing on to the third in the series, [book:The Magician's Land|19103097].
