I historically do not enjoy short stories or anthologies and I've only read the first two Scholomance books so I had everything going against me with this book but I decided to read it anyway... because the cover was pretty 🙈🤷‍♀️. It had some big wins and some that I could have gone on living without ever having read.
If you read any of the stores from this collection, make sure you read Buried Deep + The Long Way Round.

Adaminta, or, The Wreck of the Amphidrake ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Did I just find...an actually good pirate story?? Someone hold me, this is a big moment. I really enjoyed the vibes of this one, fantasy creatures, pirates and the Victorian era. 🤌

After Hours ⭐️⭐️

Maybe its because i never finished the last Scholomance book but this was just so boring and pointless.

Vici ⭐️⭐️

Making dragons boring is actually an incredible feat.

Buried Deep ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I can absolutely see why the anthology was named after this story because it was absolutely brilliant. If you read any of the stories from this collection, make sure you read this one.

Spinning Silver ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

I am so intrigued. This really did feel like an old fairytale. Now I want to badly to read the full length novel of the same name.

Commonplace ⭐️⭐️

A short story about Irene Adler???? With a serious hint at johnlock???? And it was boring????

Seven ⭐️⭐️

No clue what I just read.

Blessings ⭐️⭐️⭐️

You know, this one was actually quite good. I love twists on fairy godmother stories.

Lord Dunsay's Teapot ⭐️

I think I missed something with this one because I just don't know what the point of it was.

Seven Years from Home ⭐️

I was so excited at first when I realised this was scifi but then I quickly lost that excitement. This was not the story for me.

Dragons & Decorum ⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

This was the most random pride and prejudice fan fic ever but honestly it was so fun??? Pride and Prejudice AND dragons??!?! Sign me up!

Castle Coeurlieu ⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have no idea what i just read but the ending was interesting and i liked the gothic feel!

The Long Way Round ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

They had me in the first half of this collection I'm not gonna lie, but they clearly saved one of the best for last. I loved every second of this and my jaw was on the floor at that ending!
