"If you ever feel scared or alone. hold it and remember you're not."

This book just integrated me as a life-long fan of Rebekah Sinclair's work. This is Rebekah's debut novel and to say that this book is incredible is such an understatement.

This book is a two-person pov and we follow Rhea and Hermes. Rhea knows that she's different and has spent a long time keeping it hidden. Especially after losing her family in accident she blames herself for. Rhea gets taken and learns that Ares is after her and thats gods and goddesses are real.

Hermes has been fighting against Ares for a really long time and has been working to protect gods and mortals. He lost his mate and doesn't think he can or should have love in his heart for anyone else again.

"As you practice, meditate on your powers, feel them around you, feel for the energy in the air. Your powers will learn to react to the energy you sense, but it takes practice and patience. We don't try to rush the sun rising to hurry the day along, do we? No amount of coaxing or begging can pull it above the horizon any faster than it will happen. Why on earth would you rush yourself to learn powers so unique? Don't be so hard on yourself, okay?"

Rebekah does such a great job at describing things from the way the shifters are transitioning to how the gods are connecting with their magic and how it feels to use it. The world-building is incredible, I loved the visuals that were playing in my head as things were described. I wanted to just insert myself into the book, but also like not at the same time cause like, war involving gods, not sure that's my speed. And the way some of these characters spoke was just *chefs kiss.*

I also really enjoyed how the author made the side characters feel important to me as a readers so many of them now hold a very special place in my heart and when they hurt, I was hurting. You can just feel so connected with the characters in this story.

I so very enjoyed reading how all the secrets were coming to light, this book was a literal snack.

I seriously cannot wait for book two!
