The Last Man Annotated by Mary Shelley

5.0

I dreaded the ending knowing that the characters’ happiness, of which I grew to deeply care about, would end. Really enjoyable read even if it starts a bit slow.

One of my only real complaints is that the “futuristic” setting isn’t really different than the world Shelley lived in.

//VERY minor spoiler. Barely anything, really//
Spoiler My only real complaint is how easily Adrian solves the conflict with the Americans. It felt very easy? I expected some large show down. It’s likely due to Adrian being based off Percy Shelley and his ideals (which happen to be Mary Shelley’s too). It was really disappointing and you can clearly see their bias.
