Blackberry Winter by Sarah Jio
5.0
One of the things I so enjoy with [a:Sarah Jio|4467375|Sarah Jio|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1323817467p2/4467375.jpg]'s books is I learn something very unique. In [b:Blackberry Winter|15034485|Blackberry Winter|Sarah Jio|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1348678001s/15034485.jpg|18984429] I learned that a blackberry winter is "the term is old-fashioned weather jargon for a late-season cold snap - think of plunging temperatures and snowfall in May just when the delicate white flowers are beginning to appear on the blackberry vines." Then I learned "grave minders have long believed in the legend of the blackberry vine...they choose souls to protect. The special ones." I just love all of that. This story combined two eras, two stories, a mystery and it all takes place in the Seattle area where I lived for over 25 years. [a:Sarah Jio|4467375|Sarah Jio|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1323817467p2/4467375.jpg] did it again with a story to get lost in and get goose bumps while reading the last few pages where everything comes together.
