Just Ella by Annette K. Larsen

5.0

For some reason, I thought this was a "Cinderella" retelling. Not so. Ella is a princess, with a father, mother (not step-mother) and six sisters (not step-sisters ... just the usual sister stuff). I hadn't really looked into the book/blurb before reading it, just noted the high reviews and I had it on hand. I was ready for something light.

I really enjoyed this story. It was well written, it kept me interested and guessing the entire time. I really never knew quite where the story was going to go. I really liked the characters (although I never could keep the sisters straight) ... except Jeshua, and we're not supposed to like Jeshua. I didn't even care for the name Jeshua!

Soon after I had started this book, holds from the library came for two books I was anxiously awaiting. Had this been almost any other book, any book I felt so-so about, I would have put it down and started reading one of the library holds. But ... I wanted to finish this. Not out of obligation, but because I really wanted to finish it!

I've read plenty of bodice-ripper books, but you know, I am perfectly happy with a good story with NO sex in it. Plenty of sweet romance :)
