Bought this on eBay several months back, started reading after I heard of Taruskin's passing. Confrontational, opinionated and full of well-thought-out points - even if you don't agree with his conclusions (and I largely do), the man commands your respect, and he deserves it. Fans of Milton Babbitt may want to proceed with caution, however.
