Happily Ever Afters by Elise Bryant

What an absolute gem of a book. I laughed many times and wanted to be friends with Tessa’s amazing cast of friends! I love how this story handles real issues, shedding light on the racist, ableist reality Tessa and her family navigate that is a reflection of our own. The way this book effortlessly includes anxiety and mental health in the character’s every day life is one of my favorite elements, knowing how seen it’ll make readers with anxiety feel and normalizing how ok it is to not be ok all the time. I think if you’ve experienced the overwhelmingness that is imposter phenomenon, it’ll hit especially close to home, and be quickly easy to understand Tessa’s self-doubt. I wish I had this when I was 16! I do wish we got to see a bit more of Tessa’s self-love realization and her journey getting there and maybe even spending some more time exploring how she may be navigating therapy (since it was mentioned / implied she may start going), but I accept that she’s a teenager still going through all the ups and downs of just ... existence as a teenager, especially in this world LOL. P.S.: I want a whole book about Lenore too ASAP please !
