Sex with the Queen: 900 Years of Vile Kings, Virile Lovers, and Passionate Politics by Eleanor Herman

informative slow-paced

5.0

This book is the companion to Sex with Kings, and gives an in depth look into the lives of history's most notable queens and their lovers. So many, if not all, of these women were married off to some person they did not know, and had never seen. They were expected to look pretty, provide heirs, and stay out of the way. Some grew to love each other, but there were also a lot of lovers...and I can't really say that I blame them for that. It is hard to go through your whole life feeling no love and no passion and wholly not considered. The stories in this book were very interesting, and I will always recommend an Eleanor Herman book.
