I was very excited for this book as I really enjoyed Dear Mothman but I feel like this book somewhat missed the mark.
It was very cute and I think the representation was well done. But I do think this sort of painted the adults as villains any time B didn't have things go their way. It was just unrealistic. No way is a foster family going to get a dog for a kid after just 24 hours let alone one that reactive.
I think this book would have been much better if the adults in B's life had done more to help set expectations for B when it came to gooseberry. There were so many missed opportunities in this book. The whole thing was just a little too unrealistic to me and i think will set unrealistic expectations to its target audience.
