How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi

5.0

There is so much to unpack here, and I certainly can't do it all justice in this review. The vulnerability that Kendi shows as he takes us through his own journey and struggles with defining racism and how to combat it was really compelling. I know that I can't fully understand what BIPOC deal with in their day-t0-day lives, so I am grateful to authors like Kendi who are willing to lay it all out from multiple sides for the rest of us to learn from. I can already say that I plan to purchase my own copy (I loaned from the library this time), and reread again in the future. The definitions outlined in this book helped clarify a lot of questions I didn't realize I was asking, and I know I will need to revisit to get the most benefit. I highly recommend this book if you are already in the midst of learning about racism and privilege.
