Too verbose. I don’t need to have a metaphor or description for every minute detail. Who cares how the metal clasp on the dossier felt. I have honestly rolled my eyes so much at some of the sentence choices - was there a word count that needed to be met? 

Also many of the interactions between Carly and people she’s interviewing just come off as if no research was done on how an investigation and questioning would be conducted. 

Definitely feel like a thesaurus was kept by the author’s side as they wrote this. 

Also, every single interrogation/questioning of suspects was so unrealistic. Especially the final one since the guy stated he needed a lawyer when Carly was first talking to him. 

This should have been a DNF.
