I believe because of how much hype this series had, I was expecting something grandiose but unfortunately was underwhelming. It was still a good read and I do plan on continuing the series. It felt slow and not much was happening until the last third of the book. I also felt that Feyre and Tamlin lacked chemistry; I didn’t even realize she was falling in love for him until out of nowhere she was like I love him. Given how long the book is, I would have imagined there would be more depth to the characters. It was hard for me to want to root for any of them. The only one who I got sort of attached too was Lucien, he was the only who had an inkling of a personality although his comedic relief felt forced. Feyre also just seems unreal, she’s supposed to be this poor human girl and somehow she’s surviving all these physical feats and showing no signs of actual trauma from what she has seen and endured. And honestly just annoying.. like obviously she made the choices that needed to made for the book but like girl… all of this for a man you have no chemistry with??? And a man that was using you! Like girl, I would’ve been livid if I found that it was all manipulation to get me to fall in love I hope she experiences some growth and maturity in the books to come. I did appreciate the character of Rhysand, his nuance was a good addition.
Also, not this being twilight where she also becomes a freaking faerie. I believe this book is supposed to give Beaty and the beast but I got sparkly vampire and wolf vibes instead.
