This book felt like a mixed bag to me. The start felt very "tell don't show" which I'm not the biggest fan of. Still, despite the fact that made me sceptical of the rest of the book, I wanted to give it a fair shot.

Halfway through I started to enjoy it much more. The book finally felt like it had a plot rather than "Cardan hates Jude and bullies her just... because?".

It's an enjoyable read but you have to bear with it to get to the good bits. I'm curious what the second book will be like once I get around to it.
