The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet by Becky Chambers

5.0

This was so good!!! It’s written so beautifully. The casual lgbtq+ inclusion was gorgeous and done so flawlessly. It felt so natural (which I’ve seen/read some sci fi where lgbtq+ relationships feel out of place, definitely not the case with this story!)

The characters. They are the heart of this story. Yeah the storyline was interesting, BUT what made the book so good is the characters and their relationships with each other. I came to love every single person on the Wayfarer and I really appreciate that we get POVs from all the characters. I will ALWAYS be a sucker for the found family trope and this is certainly that.

I was a little worried the world building would get too complicated to follow (which has happened a lot for me with sci fi and fantasy) but it was very easy to follow and so unique! Becky Chambers really wove this complete universe that just makes sense and is so fascinating!

I can’t wait to read more do the series!
