Red Seas Under Red Skies by Scott Lynch

5.0

It has taken me over six hours to even open the review window because I do not want this book to be over. I do not want to not have Locke and Jean in my life for however long it takes Republic of Thieves to get to me. So this review isn't really a review, except insofar as I'd like to stand on the corner and hand out copies of The Lies of Locke Lamora because everybody needs this story. Everybody needs these characters. Everybody needs these words. I love them. I truly, madly, deeply love them. I have been trying to think of a pair of characters this amazing and I can't do it. It's Han and Chewie and Ron and Harry and Batman and Robin and it's all so much better than that. It's Locke and Jean (and Lukas and Tavren (and Leocanto and Jerome)) and lurking in the background, all the time, are Sabatha and Calo and Guldo and Bug and Father Chains and even Capa Barsavi, no kidding. There's a kitty called Regal. There are worse forces than the Bondsmagi of Carthane. There are double burns on top of double burns, triple agents and crazy bloody sea battles. There are lies and tears and love and giant spiders and flesh eating birds. There are names like "Mumchance" and "The Lady in Becoming Esrianne del Mastro" (which I may be totally misspelling, I don't know). Blah blah blah wall of words. Please read the books. They are so good.
