A Far Wilder Magic by Allison Saft

A cozy, light romance fantasy that is very FMA inspired? Yes please.

Two very likeable main characters (that reminded me of Riza and Roy Mustang) and a dog sidekick? Adorable.
We love a strong capable female lead and a chaotic adorable male lead. This kind of dynamic is just right up my alley.

Unfortunately, my main issue with this book is the pacing. It felt slow and sluggish in some parts and then rushed in others and that took me out of the story a little. Also the lack of world building made the book less atmospheric for me. I pictured the story set in Europe in the 1900s. A world rich with alchemy and steampunk engineering but there were some phrases the author used which were very modern and didn’t quite fit the theme. It was just out of place but if you don’t think too hard about it, it doesn’t take away from the book.

Overall, I would recommend this if you’re into a slow romance, a cozy vibe and if you’re not into heavy world building and heavy plot line then this is for you.
