For me, it lived up to all the hype. There were so many conflicts going on at once that there was always excitement going on. I think that the religious and political overtones got their message across.
Cons:
1. I'm not super imaginative so even though the world building was great and I bought into it I struggled to imagine even simple things like stillsuits.
2. The first 100 or so pages are mostly setup and they can be difficult to get through. Once you push past that it really picks up.

Graphic: Addiction, Death, Violence, Death of parent, and War
Moderate: Child death, Fatphobia, and Slavery
Minor: Adult/minor relationship, Grief, and Classism
