I’m struggling to write a review of this book because I loved the magical realism and many of the characters, BUT it what so negative. About halfway through I realized there was so little to hope for…I knew the characters lives would continue to be wracked by abuse. Eva is a deplorable woman with no love for anyone but herself. Her control of everyone in her life was infuriating - I just wanted her out of the way so I could see if the people around her would flourish. I’m still thinking about this book days after finishing, but I’m also left feeling empty and sad.
