She Started It by Sian Gilbert

5.0

I have to admit I was hooked on this book from page one. I liked that from the start  we knew the outcome of the story. It was all the details in between that really made the story perfect. I think this one was a little predictable for sure, but honestly it didn't even matter because it was so perfectly written that I didn't want to stop reading. I enjoyed the way the writer made each character... none of them were likable really, which was obviously an intentional plot choice. Like I felt bad rooting for them to die, but also they were terrible people. The story takes a bit to get to the point, like you can tell all four women are very self-centered and that maybe, Poppy is being a little suspicious and holding a huge grudge.
As the narrative progresses it becomes clear just what type of people Annabel, Tanya, Esther and Chloe are. It also becomes clear they haven't changed much since their time in school. The biggest mystery is really what terrible thing they did to Poppy ten years ago. The way the author let this narrative unfold really added to the suspsense of the story. I have to say I had a few moments when I wasn't so sure of what I thought I knew. And I loved every minute of it. The book kind of reminded me some of the movie Fantasy Island. I have nothing negative to say about this book. I think it is a great thriller which shows that even when we don't think so our actions have consequences, and sometimes we pay for those in unexpected ways.
