Having read this prequel before getting into the main series, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Even in such a short book, Lawson did an excellent job of introducing the two main characters, Theoden and Nevaeh, as well as a few supplementary characters. Theoden has a dark past, part of which is unknown by the audience, and Nevaeh is the innocent girl with inhuman psychic powers that will hopefully calm his bloodlust. The author has teased us just enough to keep us wanting more, to find out what will transpire when the two finally meet.
