πŸ“š Book Review: Happy Place by Emily Henry

🌟 Rating: Did not finish

Emily Henry's Happy Place promises a delightful blend of romance, fiction, and contemporary charm. However, I regret to say that I could not complete this latest summer read. As an avid reader of the author's previous works, I became increasingly disinterested as the story unfolded.

The premise of the book revolves around Harriet and Wyn, a couple who have recently broken up but haven't disclosed this fact to their closest friends. As they join their friends for their annual coastal getaway, they must pretend to be the picture-perfect couple for one last week. The stakes are high, as their beloved cottage is up for sale, and they don't want to ruin their friends' experience.

While the concept had potential, I struggled to connect with the characters and their predicament. The narrative felt sluggish, lacking the engaging quality I enjoyed in Henry's previous works. The chemistry between Harriet and Wyn, which should have been the heart of the story, failed to captivate me, leaving their interactions feeling forced. Regrettably, this leads me to conclude that Emily Henry's future works may not fit my reading preferences well.

While my experience may differ from others, I would approach Happy Place with caution, mainly if you, like me, have found the author's recent releases less appealing.  Ultimately, I cannot give it a star rating because I did not finish the book.
