Legendborn is a master class in YA Fantasy. This book was just as fun, if not more, on a reread as it was the first time I read it when it first came out in 2020. The magic systems are an excellent contrast of Arthurian legend and African-American culture that contribute not only to character and world building, but also plot elements. The characters are complex and lovable, even as they blunder through mistakes (as teenagers are want to do). Every twist and turn was delightful and I was constantly on the edge of my seat. I laughed, I cried, and I texted my reader friends constant updates.
