The Night We Lost Him by Laura Dave
3.75
Hmm. What to say about this one. Thinking I’m going with 3.75 stars. I did not struggle reading this, but it also wasn’t a book I was dying to delve back into. However, somewhere along the way I did find myself really caring where the story was going.
While this is a mystery, I feel it belongs closer to lit fic or contemporary fiction maybe. Laura Dave told a story with a mystery, but it was ultimately about the people. It was about this family—their similarities and differences. What binds them and separates them.
And while it was largely about Cory and Liam, Nora was the one with the most to learn from their story. I hope it inspires her to not make the same mistakes.
Worth reading for sure. Just know it’s not a page turning thriller. It’s a story about a family and the mystery is not really the point.
