Agh that was crazy! I’ve never actually ever experienced that sort of atmosphere again before - it was absolutely electric! The passion 🙌

All jokes aside, I really did enjoy this. Dante and Vivian’s chemistry was everything that made this book peak romance perfection.

At times, I will admit the story (not the writing I want to emphasize) kind of veers into a fan fiction territory with no thorough explanations about certain businesses or plotting, but these are just minor technical details. The writing does not fault this. This is well-written and the story flows, showcasing both the characters’s flaws and growth as their relationship develops. Ana Huang knows how to write romance while making her characters shine.

I also got a sense of undertones about Asian identity, which I personally appreciated, and that internalized struggle of perfection or of wanting to be and seen more than that through success and achievement. This comes through in Vivian’s character but especially in understanding her parents and her father’s ambitions.

Dante meanwhile is more than just a stern alpha-male love interest. There’s depth and vulnerability behind this aggressive facade and just as Vivian slowly peels back those layers, we too begins to see the true person beneath it. It also ties well into Vivian’s own complicated relationship with her parents and themes about family and how it shapes you into the person that you are and want to be, which further shows why Vivian and Dante’s relationship works.

I really enjoyed King of Wrath. I’m already excited to continue the rest of the series and if Kai and Isabella’s relationship is just as enticing as what was previewed here throughout, then I am ready to dive into King of Pride.
