Cora is a brilliant, bold, American woman looking to secure a husband to get her inheritance and protect her mother and sisters.
Leo is an English lord desperate for cash for a number of reasons, including his little brother’s major gambling debts.
They decide to marry, in name only.
Their simple arrangement, medieval, as Leo says, in just how arranged it is, starts to fall apart as they spend time together working, introducing themselves to each other, exchanging major family secrets, and (of course) falling in love.
It’s a slow burn, but it’s hot when it gets there.
Also Leo is a keepsakes guy (ribbons) and an extremely thoughtful gift giver.
There’s a 3rd act blackmail into comprising principles subplot that didn’t land for me.
