It’s hard to write a review for this because there is so much to write about so I’m going to keep this fairly short until I can write something more concise.
This wasn’t what I expected - I read this because I thought it would be similar to The night circus, and there were similarities but ultimately this is unlike anything I’ve ever read before. The amount of research that went into this book is mind blowing and I greatly enjoyed all the footnotes (though some of them were a little tedious when they ended up being so long). I loved the setting of this book greatly, and I loved some characters (Childermass fan always) and I hated others (Drawlight), though I was a little disappointed in the ending. Overall I would only recommend this if you are a big historical fantasy fan and you like a large chunk of history to go with your fantasy.
