How Does It Feel? by Jeneane O'Riley

4.0

I bought this because I loved the original cover and it was $5. It was very much giving EPIC (the movie) vibes but a much darker adult version. A human who unknowingly falls into the fae world only to be kidnapped (and treated really horribly) by the Unseelie Prince . . .

I know a lot of people disliked this, but listen, it felt like the grungy, emo side of the fae and not the bright magical version. I like dark. I like twisted. I like this book. I wasn't prepared for that ending though, had me like, 'scuse me??!? You said, what now? (wish you could hear the accent I give to these LOL)

When the very first Kindle came out, my first download and read was a fae trilogy that held this kind of punky edge to it. Gritty, dark and real. It wasn't that those books (or this one for that matter) were this great thing but they felt darker and more raw than what I had experienced prior in my reading. I think that was when I opened up to the darker reads and felt a comfort within them.

When I say the darkness calls me by name. It may be why the two people closest to me, my person(s) if you will, balance me out so much. They exude light and bring my soul a type of peace I couldn't find in the dark.

Now that I've given you tmi about me that you didn't ask for LOL, I would suggest anyone who likes the gritty, darker side of magical worlds give this a try. My feelings are based on vibes I had while reading. These types of reads will always be ones I pick up and find a bit of comfort in.
