Something in the Water by Catherine Steadman

3.0

This book started with a bang and then I felt like it fizzled out. Based on how it started, I expected to be on the edge of my seat, wondering where things were going to take me. But that’s not what happened. The pacing was incredibly slow, and I struggled to get invested. I felt that things were underdeveloped and predictable. The characters were so frustrating. Maybe because of the predictability, but it was just easy to see where things were going. I thought the whole bad guy aspect needed some work. There was no back story as to what was really happening, and it just fell flat overall. I will say despite the slower pacing, and predictability this book was bingeable and I wanted to see where things were going. Pretty much to see if it played out as I thought or not, but I did finish it over the course of an afternoon in one sitting, so that’s something.
