Visions of Heat by Nalini Singh

4.0

This is the second book in the Psy-Changeling series and it follows Faith and Vaughn.

Faith is the best F-Psy i.e. of the foreseers. Her visions bring in millions to her family, the NightStar clan, and the clients that pay her. These businesses pay her to foresee how well their businesses will thrive. She has been working since she was three years and almost never leaves her home. Sometimes she is so lost in her visions of the future that she even forgets to eat or drink.

Vaughn is the jaguar and the sentinel of the DarkRiver pack. When he was a kid, he had to stay in his animal form for a long time in order to survive and for that reason he feels more comfortable being a jaguar.

When Vaughn meets Faith, he realises that Faith is important to him and that Faith cannot be as cold and distant as normal Psy. He needs to connect with her, but her isolated life prevents him from earning her love.

This was a good read but not as good as the first one. What I didn’t really like was that Vaughn didn’t understand boundaries! Faith kept telling him that constant touch would overload her senses and she would faint, but he still did it. EVERY TIME.

She’s an F-Psy that’s been more isolated than normal Psy because she’s worth millions. So adapting to Changeling habits such as constant touch was too much for her to handle.

This was still a solid read though. The murder mystery that these stories have, took a backseat in this book and the romance overshadowed everything else. Descent pacing, great read. What intrigued me the most was the Psy council, the plot thickens with this group of powerful Psy that dominates most of the world. Can’t wait to see what they do next.
