I’m re-reading books from authors I read when I was a kid, including several others by DeClements. I don’t think I’d ever read this one, but I liked it. I think the way Paula befriended Sukey was really kind and would have inspired me a lot as a kid, so I think that helps this book stand the test of time. There are some dated ideas about weight though.
