The Project by Courtney Summers
4.0
Wowowowowow.
(This is probably more like a 4.25/4.5).
While this is by no means Shakespeare - I found a couple of things predictable and therefore got a little frustrating waiting for the characters to catch up and there were several repeats in close conjunction throughout - I have a lot of respect for this.
It affected me. Few books have made me feel sick to my stomach but this was one of them. I was right with the main character trying to figure out what was going on. And I rooted for her so hard! In fact, all of the characters felt complex and flawed and oh so real to me.
This also definitely felt more adult than [b:Sadie|34810320|Sadie|Courtney Summers|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1556559178l/34810320._SY75_.jpg|56026767] did and I really enjoyed that aspect. In fact, I almost think it could've pushed it a little more, gone a little darker. But that's a minor complaint and as a whole this is my favourite of the two books of hers that I've read so far and I;m definitely looking forward to more!
My biggest praise is probably how reluctant I was to put this book down - something I also experienced with Sadie. I desperately needed to know what would happen and enjoyed every second of it! (Paise is also due to the audiobook which was brilliantly narrated).
Overall, if you like books about messy families, mysteries, maybe cults, you might want to check this one out.
