Artificial Wisdom by Thomas R. Weaver

4.0

This was a great blend of dystopian sci-fi and murder mystery with a good dose of political intrigue. And even though I saw a certain twist coming, it never took away from the excitement of seeing the plot unfold, which still took plenty of unexpected turns. Reading Artificial Wisdom felt a bit like taking a glimpse into a possible future - and that certainly added a real (albeit slightly disturbing) sense of fascination.

The compelling and well-developed cast of characters helped give the world a lived-in & established feel. Tully, in particular, was a very intriguing character to follow and learn more about. There were a few touching moments that caught me by surprise.

When I picked this book up, I expected the story to be a lot more sci-fi heavy, but what I ended up getting was an emotional & though-provoking futuristic thriller with a splash of sci-fi ... and I'm not mad about it. It's hard to believe this was the author's debut! I can't wait to see what he comes up with next!! Also, the audiobook was fantastic btw. - Steven Pacey's captivating narration was a delight as always.
