Enrique's Journey: The Story of a Boy's Dangerous Odyssey to Reunite with His Mother by Sonia Nazario

3.0

3.5 stars. This is a stark and brutal look at immigration from Central America and Mexico into the United States, the brutality that migrants face, and the tragedy is separation of families. The United States has a lot to answer for in terms of the havoc we wreak in the world in the name of the Drug War and the way we handle immigration.

This would be rated higher for me, but it reads like a long-form news article to me, rather than a book. The writing is fine, but not overly compelling. Still, it's a good book and one that most of white America should read.
