Book of Night by Holly Black

3.0

The first three quarters of this story really dragged. The premise is interesting, and all the inner workings of status and relationships are intriguing, but the plot waited till the last bit of the book to really do anything at all.

That being said, that last bit was wild, and given that, and that I generally love Holly Black's work I'll for sure be reading the second book when it comes out, though I maybe wish I had just waited till then to read this one, too. I feel like this book was a very long intro to what I'm assuming we'll be getting in the second.
