This is such a great series and I really enjoyed reading it with the 9-year-old I tutor! It was so fun noticing all of the references to the original Robin Hood story and we both had a good laugh over the charming narration! I especially love how both the main protagonist and the main antagonist are presented as flawed characters who have to go on journeys of self-improvement throughout the series. It is set up so well here, made so much nicer by the inclusion of the principal bringing them in for counseling to provide them with the resources they need to understand and work on their behavioral issues rather than just writing them off as "bad kids." The message that counseling is supposed to be there to help rather than to punish is something we really need more of.
